Penn State women's basketball coach Rene Portland was hospitalized late Sunday evening following the team's return from Austin, Texas, where it had competed in the State Farm Tip-Off Classic.

Oh, downtrodden glances, where have you gone? What's that you say -- you'll be gone for a week? And you took solemn whispers and heartbreak along with you?

On a day when the youngsters of the Penn State men's basketball team began to emerge, it was the work of a crafty veteran that stole the spotlight.

Win or lose, the one thing that can be said about the Penn State men's soccer team this year is that it is entertaining. The Nittany Lions have played in 12 overtime games this season and, though it's not always good for the offense, they dribble more than the Harlem Globetrotters.

With the second seed and a flawless home record, things were looking pretty good for the Penn State women's soccer team heading into the NCAA tournament.

There were people with their faces painted, cheers being chanted, and signs for some fans' favorite player covering the White Building this weekend.

Even two consecutive losing seasons apparently weren't enough to deter one of the nation's best high school football players from making Penn State his college choice.
