Ladies and gentlemen, today I am writing to inform you all of what should be a common courtesy policy. When you are in the extended hours reading room of the library, please take note that you are still in the library. In a library it is common courtesy for people to quietly do their work or reading. Notice the emphasis on the word quietly.
Wednesday night, there were groups of people in both extended hours reading rooms of Pattee Library holding generally loud and obnoxious group meetings. Group meetings should take place in the HUB-Robeson Center, or in specially designated rooms in the library. Reading rooms are for reading and studying, quietly. Please adhere to this form of common courtesy when in these rooms. Also, these rooms are not places for people to spend time getting re-acquainted or for holding gab sessions. They are for reading and quiet study. Thank you for your time for your cooperation to this policy.
