Lions' Nadeau named National Player of Week

Senior outside hitter Syndie Nadeau was named National Player of the Week by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, for her performance on the road with the Penn State women's volleyball team against No. 5 Minnesota and Iowa last weekend.

The St. Georges, Quebec native is the first member of the Nittany Lions to ever receive the honor.

"Although it's a great personal honor it reflects a lot on the team, and the coaches," Nadeau said. "The team had a great weekend, and I was lucky enough to have a great weekend too."

Nadeau was also named Big Ten Player of the Week for leading the Lions in kills against the Golden Gophers with 19, and for her flawless performance against the Hawkeyes where she had 11 kills on 22 attempts all without a single attack error.

Thanks to Nadeau's efforts the defending Big Ten Champion Nittany Lions (21-2, 12-2 Big Ten) are now tied for first place in the Big Ten with No. 8 Ohio State in the conference standings.

The Lions return to Rec Hall this weekend to face Wisconsin and Northwestern on Friday and Saturday night at 7.
