To the supporters of the war in Iraq: Imagine you are with your best friend doing whatever it is you do for fun. Imagine that your best friend isn't there. Imagine that they never will be again because they were killed in Iraq. This was what my mom told me when I went home for fall break. I can't say I hadn't thought about how I would feel if it happened. It was nothing like anything I could have imagined, nothing that I could ever explain in words. The guy I had known since pre-school, grew up with, graduated high school with, was gone in a heartbeat, at only 22 years old. For the life of me, I couldn't come up with a reason for why it was his time. The only solace I can take from his death is knowing that he's somewhere better now. A place where he doesn't have to fear for his life and where people aren't trying to kill him. So to those who still support the war after all that has happened, I have this to say: Please think long and hard before deciding our country needs to go to war next time.
