I was upset and offended yesterday, when a group of Republicans drove by me in an SUV plastered with "Seniors for Bush" signs screaming about how they won. I will confess that I voted for Sen. John Kerry and Sen. John Edwards on Tuesday, and they lost. President Bush and Vice President Cheney won. I did not lose anything, except perhaps some peace of mind. And I submit to you gentlemen that you did not win anything this past Election Day. Bush chalked up another victory, but he is faced with a deficit larger than the United States has ever seen, middle class families out of work and with no money, and a war raging over in Iraq. Mothers, fathers, daughters and sons are dying every day. This is what you have won, and this is no reason to celebrate. Do me a favor and celebrate when America can breathe easier with no red, yellow or orange alerts. Celebrate when innocent people are no longer dying for a cause they don't even understand. Drive around town screaming in your car when you don't have to break the bank to fill it up with gas. I did not vote for Bush, but regardless of absentee ballots and computerized voting and Ohio, he won, and I hope and pray that he and his constituents can rectify the horrific state of affairs we are in right now. If he can, if "your man" can do it, I will drive around screaming with you because this election was about making America better, and when America is better, no matter who gets the press time, we have all won.
