The State College Police Department is searching for information in connection with the sexual assault of a 21-year-old Penn State student Friday.
According to police, the woman had been out with friends at the Lion's Den, 118 S. Garner St., and decided to walk home alone.
The woman walked down Calder Way toward Allen Street, where a man, who she said appeared to be intoxicated, approached her, police said.
The man allegedly followed her down the street and then followed her into her apartment building at 119 S. Burrowes St.
The woman reported the man then followed her into the elevator and stopped the elevator after she pushed the button for her floor.
According to the victim, the man then pulled down her pants and began to fondle her. The victim was able to start the elevator and, upon reaching her floor, ran into her apartment.
Police said the suspect followed the victim and attempted to get into bed with her, at which point the woman's roommate began hitting the suspect and told him to leave.
In response, the suspect said the woman had invited him into the apartment, police said.
The man left the apartment, and police were dispatched to the apartment at about 2 a.m. Officers searched the area surrounding the apartment but were unable to locate the man.
The victim described the suspect as a white man, 5 feet 10 inches tall and of medium build. He was wearing a white-collared, buttoned-down shirt that was either light blue or gray checkered. The victim said the man also had light brown hair and very pale, clear skin.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call State College police at 234-7150.
