Endorsements hurt media's credibility
I am writing this letter in response to the page long editorial ("America should elect Sen. John Kerry" Wed., Oct. 27) addressing why Sen. John Kerry is the right choice for America. Up to this point the paper has featured a series of articles expressing views from both sides, so I ask what was wrong with that format, and why was it replaced with an entire page of one-sided philosophy? Why do the opinions of many students on this campus have to be quashed to fit a display of bias? I disagree with the editorial staff of The Daily Collegian for allowing and being responsible for this endorsement. Newspapers forfeit journalistic credibility whenever they endorse a candidate, it doesn't matter who is endorsed or by what paper. Nathan Mountain
