Article fails to tell Moore's main points
Whether you're pro- or anti-Michael Moore we all agree that he's one of the most notorious political voices today. Moore's visit was arguably the biggest event that took place this weekend, and it's a shame that such a poor article ("Moore criticizes current president" Mon. Oct., 25) was written about it. After reading the headline I knew it was going to be biased. Alex Muller made it sound like Moore came here, bashed our president, passed out Ramen, made $30,000 and left. He did more than the article suggests, talking about the media, government, our economic situation and his interviews with Iraqi war veterans. One poignant, neglected fact was about Sept. 11. Moore talked of how no one was able to fly for several days after the tragedy, though, on Sept. 13 members of Osama Bin Laden's family flew out of the country on the White House's press plane. None of the family members were questioned, and were able to leave the country on a government plane. Moore spoke about the thousands of letters he's received from Iraqi war veterans supporting his cause. He also mentioned how going against the United Nations and invading Iraq damaged our reputation in the world. With the election a week away, the Collegian needs to take its writing more seriously.
