Letter to the Editor
Two choices show weakness in system

As I read Friday's editorial ("Political drama won't further thought due to conflicting schedules" Fri., Oct. 22) about Michael Moore and Mike Gallagher coming to Penn State, I couldn't help but notice the use of terms like "both sides" or "two sides," referring to Moore and Gallagher's different views. The Collegian suggests a two-sided debate between Moore and Gallagher would be ideal, but this would turn into another edition of CNN's Crossfire, with shouting from both sides. Most of the issues facing voters on Election Day are not limited to two viewpoints. Everything in the media is presented as black or white, Kerry or Bush, Democrat or Republican. In this case, it's Moore or Gallagher. What about those of us who don't completely agree with either speaker? Sure, there's the Green Party, the Libertarian Party and several others, but they get little recognition in the mainstream media and their candidates have virtually no shot at winning the presidential election.
