Police investigate apartment burglaries

The State College Police Department is investigating 14 apartment burglaries that occurred between Oct. 4 and 22. The same apartment company manages all three apartment buildings where the incidents occurred, but police did not release the company's name. Police suspect the burglaries are connected.

In each burglary, the apartments were locked and the items stolen were cash and small valuables. Anyone with further information is asked to call State College police at 814-234-7150 or CRIMESTOPPERS at 1-877-99-CRIME.

Two men arrested in robbery incident

Keiron Joseph of Wyomissing and Eliah Davis of Reading were arrested yesterday in connection to an incident on the 200 block of Highland Avenue yesterday. They were charged with robbery, assault, theft, and drugs and weapons violations.

State College police Sgt. Christian Fishel said the two men allegedly took money from two people who intended to buy drugs, and then never delivered the drugs. Officers approached the two men, who were in a car at the time. Police said the two men got out of the car and fled a short distance on foot before being apprehended. Fishel said Davis was carrying $1,800 in cash and a gun on him at the time of the arrest. Joseph was carrying 40 bags of marijuana and cocaine and was armed with a knife, police said.

Both were arraigned before Centre County District Justice Allen Sinclair and placed in Centre County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Centre County Courthouse, Bellefonte.

Penn State student struck by vehicle

Penn State student Erica Vera-Cordella was struck by a car shortly after midnight yesterday while crossing Atherton Street, State College police said. Police said the driver of the car, Penn State student Eric Marquart, was driving with a .11 blood alcohol level. Vera-Cordella was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center for treatment for a head injury. Hospital officials said yesterday that Vera-Cordella was no longer a patient there, but could not say whether she had been transferred to another hospital or released.
