Letter to the Sports Editor
Fans need to white out stadium at every game

I am writing this letter in regards to the immense outpouring of enthusiasm and school spirit exhibited during the Purdue football game. This game's atmosphere served as an example of how every Penn State football home game should be. Every game students should come decked in white and ready to show our football team the support they deserve for exemplifying such a great amount of effort. "Come early, be loud, stay late" should be true of every football game. Our stadium ranks as the second largest in the country, however we are notoriously known for our lack of creating an intimidating home field advantage. Beaver Stadium should be a place that opposing teams fear to visit.

The burden should fall not only on the students but the alumni as well. The picture of the white out in the Collegian was inspiring. Our stadium should look like that for every home game.

We should not need to advertise a white out for one game, but instead it should just be known to wear white to every single game.

I was at the Boston College game and its athletic department gave yellow shirts to all the students. Maybe this is a step that our athletic department could take to ensure that the fans are creating an intimidating atmosphere.

Here's to creating not only another white out this weekend, but a new Penn State tradition of whiting out every home game.
