If Kerry wins in Nov., draft will be needed
In response to Jim Coder's letter ("Threat of draft real, not merely political" Thurs. Oct, 14), I feel that if Sen. John Kerry is elected, America will be forced to start a draft. The fact of the matter is, troops overwhelmingly support President Bush by a margin close to 3 to 1. Also, Kerry continually discusses how poorly this war is being fought, how it's the wrong war and how it was a mistake. One thing is for sure, if I was fighting in a war and the president talked about how this war was a mistake, I wouldn't want to fight for him. If the most powerful man in the world would think that the job the military is doing is for naught, how do you expect the military to fight for him? If Kerry is elected president, nobody will want to fight for him, and therefore Kerry would be forced to start a draft. It's the only way Kerry could keep enough troops to defend this nation.
