NEWS

One out of every seven women will be touched by it at some point in their life.

Though more women registered for Panhellenic Council (PHC) recruitment this semester than in fall 2003, the number of bids received by potential sorority members has decreased.

Despite the large number of Penn State students who struggle with college costs, it might be hard to believe that students might not apply for financial aid.

A Christian student organization has filed a federal lawsuit against Penn State President Graham Spanier and Vice President for Student Affairs Vicky Triponey, alleging the university's non-discrimination clause interferes with the organization's ability to choose appropriate officers.

When Julian Siano slips on his black Converse All-Stars in room 106 of the White Building, he doesn't just lace them up.

While officials say the number of domestic violence and sexual assault cases in the State College area is not decreasing, authorities that deal with them have seen the amount of victims seeking help grow relatively high compared to past decades.

After the controversy surrounding the 2000 presidential election, college-aged students are giving the 2004 election more attention than ever, knowing that "every vote counts" in November.

Ray McGovern, a former intelligence analyst, has seen the CIA from the inside.

While Pennsylvania legislators passed an automatic recount law to help ensure an uncontestable election, detailed instructions have still not been given to election offices.

All U.S. citizens have the right to vote, but not all citizens are allowed to run for president.

The rules were the same as those at the actual debate -- no clapping, no talking -- nothing.

The lawsuit filed by the evangelical student group DiscipleMakers Christian Fellowship has raised the issue of Penn State's nondiscrimination policy and its application to student groups.

SPORTS

The Penn State men's soccer team has arrived at a crossroad.

It's kind of like that movie "Groundhog Day".

The Nikes will be laced and the ankles will be taped, but when the Penn State women's basketball team has its first practice on Saturday it will be missing something.

The Penn State women's cross-country team will invite about 20 of the top teams from around the country to the Blue-White golf course this weekend for the 36th annual Penn State Invitational.

With the No. 1 Penn State ACHA Div. I Icers trailing 4-3 and just under five minutes left in the third period of the ACHA National Championship game, hope for a fifth consecutive National Championship began to fade as the Icers scrambled to try and tie the score.

The Penn State ACHA Div. I Icers are used to having the bright-red bull's-eyes on their backs as the four-time defending league champions.

If you feared there'd be a let down after last year's disappointing loss to Ohio University, there wasn't.

2004-2005 Season preview

Sports in Brief

Centerfold

The Penn State men's soccer team has arrived at a crossroad.

Winning a seventh straight regular-season Big Ten title has been the focus of the No. 3 Penn State women's soccer team this season. This weekend the Nittany Lions (11-1-1, 7-0-0 Big Ten) have a very realistic shot to do just that as they take on two teams with a combined 1-11-1 Big Ten record this season.

There wasn't much to be said in the locker room after the Penn State football team's 20-13 loss to Purdue.

The Michiganders are coming.

My Opinion: Chris Rajotte

OPINIONS

Penn State should get fraternities' liabilities from Borough Council

ARTS

Listen up, everybody, if you wanna take a chance: on Tuesday, rest assured, you can get on the floor and do the New Kids dance.

At 7:30 on Sunday night, the Bryce Jordan Center will be playing host to reigning Country Music Association (CMA), Academy of Country Music (ACM) and ASCAP Vocal Group of the Year Rascal Flatts. Opening up for the Flatts will be the hot country duo of Chris Cagle and Julie Roberts.

Putting together an outfit that's hot and affordable doesn't come easy, and often, especially for guys, takes some advice. Luckily with some quick research it's easy to find cheaper variations of designer clothing. Here are some of my top men's fashion picks for the fall with their less-expensive counterparts.

Wrapped in sweaters and fleece hoodies, the cast of Rimers of Eldritch remains frozen onstage as two actors rehearse a scene from the play where a murder trial grips a small town.

If you want to make it in today's music industry, sometimes you just have to travel 3,000 miles to play Café 210 West, 210 W. College Ave.

His band might be called Herbie, but drummer Jeff Herb is no prima donna.

Two to three ounces of mild white cheddar cheese oozes over a quarter pound of fresh ground beef -- steamed to a crescendo of mouth watering juiciness -- and erupts out of a kaiser roll.

Believe it or not, there is still something called a bipartisan event in this world where neither liberal nor conservative viewpoints are held over the other.

Many Penn State students think of Joegies in the HUB-Robeson Center as a place to grab a sandwich on the go. However, on Friday and Saturday nights it is transformed into a free live music venue by Late Night Penn State with the American Eagle Outfitters Performance Stage.
