The Icers were impressive in its opening weekend winning handily in each of its three games played, by a combined score of 21-7.
"We have a good nucleus coming back, especially on defense," Icers head coach Joe Battista said.
That defense is led by senior defenseman, Eric Harbaugh. He already has one goal and three assists this season, and is back with the team after red-shirting in the middle of last season for what Battista called both personal and academic reasons. Harbaugh has worked his way back and was named team captain.
If your worried about the Icers last line of defense, Battista will incorporate his patented goalie-by-committee approach, alternating sophomore Chris Matteo and Div. 1 transfer Paul Mammola, from UMass Lowell.
As for it's opponent, the Icers played two games against Saint Clair College two years ago when it split that weekend set.
Saint Clair College head coach Kevin Hamlin is well aware of what type of team his club will face this weekend.
"Anytime time you get a team like Penn State to come to Windsor, Ontario, it's big, and we're treating it like that," Hamlin said.
