Girls of Happy Valley story shocks reader
When I first saw the "Girls of Happy Valley" calendar story ("Calendar creator, girls set for Stern" Tues. Oct., 12), I was appalled. The fact that the story was on the front page made me even more outraged. What kind of message are we sending to our scholars and future Penn State students? We are one of the most prestigious schools in the country and one of our front page reports includes Alex Germain, pictured in a "vulgar" pose, using these women to make an easy dollar ("I wanted to work with hot girls and make some money at the same time"). Many people assume that this is just all in fun, but we also must realize that these women and Germain will be representing Penn State on the Howard Stern show, which includes porn stars and others. Another point I would like to make is also, "girls of happy valley" should be changed to "male stereotypical attractive girls in happy valley." These women do not represent the entire female population of Penn State. Instead, these women only represent Germain's definition of "attractive women." Who gave this person the authority to define beauty at Penn State? Nicole Horne
