Darnell Atkins of Renton, Wash., was bound over for trial at a preliminary hearing yesterday. Atkins faces charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct in connection with an Oct. 8 incident in the 300 block of West College Avenue in which Atkins allegedly struck Penn State student Greg Sailor on the back of the head with a beer mug. Sailor was treated for his injuries at Mount Nittany Medical Center and released.
James R. Stewart of State College was bound over for trial on charges of manufacturing a controlled substance, intent to manufacture a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.
According to court documents, on June 15, officers located 32 marijuana plants, 36.3 grams of cocaine, 0.55 grams of Ecstasy and six pills containing Alprazolam, an anxiety medication, in Stewart's former residence at 126 Cornflower Lane.
A memorial service for Penn State student Janei Coaxum will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday in the main worship hall of the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center. Coaxum, a Penn State senior, died in late August of a blood clot.
