Seeing double
Lookin' finer without spending on designer

Collegian Staff Writer

Putting together an outfit that's hot and affordable doesn't come easy, and often, especially for guys, takes some advice. Luckily with some quick research it's easy to find cheaper variations of designer clothing. Here are some of my top men's fashion picks for the fall with their less-expensive counterparts.

Striped Dress Shirts

For going out, a nice dress shirt is essential. Vertical skinny-striped dress shirts are must-have item this season. Try blush tones mixed with traditional blue and white for a fresh sexy look.Gucci offers variations in classic colors for $400 retail value while Abercrombie and Fitch, for $49.50, has a huge range of slightly more casual options.

Jeans

A good lookin' rear is essential for all you "pimp daddies" tryin' to get the ladies to look your way. Not real loose, not too tight, pick any color that fits your style and your booty is officially cutie. While Diesel -- $179 -- is known for great fitting jeans, Express men offers very similar styles for about $58.

Semi-formal shoes

A leather shoe in black or brown polishes off a well out together outfit. Don't always go with sneakers or boots but try leather oxfords for semi-formal and formal wear. Ralph Lauren has some basics sold at $164.99 and Alfani Broadway, available at Macy's, offers similar shoes for $59.99.

The Track Jacket

This is a light, sporty jacket that can be used as outerwear before the weather gets rough or as insulation under thicker coats later in the season. Their advantage is that they can be worn to match a large array of personal styles. Whether you are a preppy boy, a chill dude, a smooth operator, or just a skater boy, you'll find a match. Quiksilver models retail at $54.99 while American Eagle's takes are currently on sale for $29.99

Rugby shirt

The classic rugby shirt is a must have because you can throw it on top of or underneath multiple shirts or sweaters. It's casual, yet not sloppy. Polo Ralph Lauren retails long-sleeved versions for $75 to $85, while American Eagle retails short-sleeved rugbys for $24.95

Humor Shirts

If you're a fun kind of guy, you can liven things up with these comedic Tees. Prada has a kooky robot that has shown up all over its line, which retails at $380. Abercrombie and Fitch has dozens of jokester tees, all available for about $24.50.
