Now this is the Zack Mills we knew was still in there. Playing brilliantly, though wincing in pain, he racked up 293 yards in an incredibly gutsy showing. |
| Running backs |
C+ |
Tony Hunt was a valuable pass receiver out of the backfield, but PSU ran for just 18 yards. Paul Jefferson had two holding calls on the same play. |
| Wide Receivers |

The wideouts were far improved, making several clutch catches, like Terrell Golden’s end zone grab. But they had issues getting open in the red zone. |

Mills was under a lot of pressure the entire game. He was sacked twice and was forced to throw it away several times. New lineup was problematic. |
| Defensive line |
A- |
The constant pressure on Kyle Orton can be attributed to the D Line. The pass rush was commendable, causing struggles for the Heisman hopeful. |
| Linebackers |
B+ |
Dan Connor and Paul Posluszny couldn’t have been better, and the corps persisted through injuries. Derek Wake, however, was as ineffective as ever. |

Two interceptions and less than 300 passing yards for Orton? These guys should take that. Corners were on, and the zone mix-up worked splendidly. |
| Special Teams |
B- |
70-yard punt, 65-yard kickoff return were phenomenal. Two short field goals were expected. Failed fake FG and missed long FG were game-changing. |
