The team made the most of their practices, even though they had a short time to be at home and then travel down to Tennessee.
"We stressed the short game and are staying focused," coach Denise St. Pierre said. "It takes time and is still early on in the season."
Being that the team had such a short time between tournaments and traveling will play a vital role in how well the team competes this weekend.
"Travel can get you tired but we hope to have a good practice round and come out strong," St. Pierre said.
The competition will take place at the Cherokee Country Club. This is the first time that the tournament will be played at this course and is new to every team, except Tennessee.
"It's not unusual for courses to change, but it can be difficult," St. Pierre said. "We just take good notes on practice rounds."
Tennessee will add some competition this weekend as all five starters return from last year's squad.
Last year, Ohio State was the Big Ten champion and this will be second time that Penn State will face them in a tournament for their fall season.
"We hope to compete well against our conference teams," St. Pierre said. " We are the only Big Ten team from our region there and we hope to do well in our region."
