Letter to the Editor
Moore will campaign for Sen. John Kerry

In a letter to the newspaper on Wed., Oct. 4 ("UPAC thinks Moore appropriate use of funds"), Adam Freegood and Bruce Davis defended the University Park Allocation Committee's decision to sponsor Michael Moore. A direct quote from their letter reads as follows "UPAC policy prohibits appropriations to any partisan political activity, or for the support of the political campaigns of any candidate for political office." The committee determined that the Michael Moore program at the Bryce Jordan Center is not constrained by this policy. Just when you thought that the liberals on campus couldn't get any more ridiculous. In a recent speech at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, Moore attempted to get "slackers" out to vote. An admirable goal on the surface, but clearly partisan when followed by Moore-led chant of "Pick nose! Pick butt! Pick Kerry!" (taken from MichaelMoore.com, the filmmaker's own blog). I'm not one to rush to judgment. Perhaps Michael Moore doesn't intend to encourage the youth to vote for U.S. Sen. John Kerry (D-Massachussets). And perhaps pigs will soon be flying over Beaver Stadium.
