Democrat letter not accurate about costs
Megan Green's letter to the editor on Tuesday ("Moore appearance worth extra money") about University Park Allocations Committee policy and Michael Moore has factual errors and distractions from the real issues at hand. First, as Chairman of the Young Americans for Freedom, I can say we have never been funded $20,000 for a speaker. Last year we received $13,500 for Ann Coulter, after we were originally denied, I might add. Also, I wouldn't call Coulter "little known" She has written two best-selling books, Treason and Slander, makes numerous television appearances, and writes a column that appears in dozens of newspapers. If Moore received a $23,000 honorarium then UPAC has much to answer for, since their own rules cap such allocations at $15,000. Also, UPAC rules prohibit funding for political campaigns. I find it hard to believe that Moore will be discussing anything other than the presidential election. Moore has been a democratic surrogate for months now and will likely continue that trend when he arrives at Penn State. UPAC erred in funding a John Kerry campaign representative and should follow their own rules in the future. Pete Roy
