Right foot forward
Winter kicks to keep and which ones you can 'boot'

Collegian Staff Writer

The most essential piece of fall footwear is gradually switching from flip-flops to boots.

A boot is the foundation for an outfit, and this season more than ever choosing one that's right for you is like being Goldie Locks, but with innumerable options instead of just three. It's not easy, but have faith, you'll find the one.

Here are a few options and some advice to help you on your quest:

UGGs

Ugh, Ugh, Ugh. What are you people thinking wearing them with skirts? Ya'll look like Eskimos on vacation. I'm thinkin' they gotta go. Even the baby blue ones.

If you're really partial, wear them, BUT only with pants. But be ready for them to fade fast and definitely die away by next year.

Rubber Rain Boots

These babies are C-U-T-E cute! They're fun, they have flavor and if you're wearin' a pair of these you've got enough fun to jazz up any tired outfit.

But beware, these are for sure a one-season-only kinda deal.

Report Dingo Boot

Much more fun and less frumpy then the UGG boot, a soft leather knee-high boot that is heaven to walk in, the Report Dingo boot is practical for fall and winter.

You can wear them with jeans -- especially hot if you tuck in the jeans -- but you're not limited to jeans. Corduroys, skirts, khakis, or velour you can wear them with all.

Stiletto- and Kitten-heel knee-highs

The sexiest choice for a boot helps elongate those gams and give you some heat when you match them with tight jeans, minis, or ankle length skirts. Beware though that the stiletto variation is not for everyday use.

They'll be in vogue for a few seasons to come so they're a good pick.

Consider boots by Somethin' Else.

Black ankle boots

If you have one boot to blow money on, this is the one. The black boot will never go out of style and you can wear it with just about anything for at least two seasons out of the year.

Look for Steve Madden's Lindzie, Teaze and Chicago models in black and colors.

Naturalizer

Relatively plain Jane, Naturalizer offers simple, comfortable black or brown boots.

You can wear them with anything, they'll keeps your toes cozy and last you years and years.
