Radio station needs extra university funds
Just like Maggie Clark ("The Lion should stop worrying about funds"), I am a very active member of a student club, and I feel that many clubs and organizations (like my own) do not receive enough funding from the university. However, I think it is narrow-minded of her to attack The Lion 90.7FM and deem them unworthy of funding. The university does not have unlimited funds for student organizations, but I believe The Lion's status as the only Penn State student radio station should be taken into account when considering how much funding they should receive. The Lion 90.7FM provides students with a great variety of music (and even a forum for debate) anywhere they go, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They are a unique, free-thinking media outlet in society where nearly all radio stations are corporate-owned, play the same 40 crappy songs, and seem to air more commercials than music. Instead of bashing The Lion 90.7FM like Maggie Clark, I think the Penn State community should embrace this fantastic radio station and do whatever we can to support it. Dave Matlin
