Senior Maaria Husain entered the quarterfinals of the main draw, flying high defeating all of her opponents in convincing fashion. Husain pushed Kelly Perry of Arizona to the limit but came up short falling 7-5, 6-2. Husain reached the quarterfinals by defeating Marlena Hall of Columbia 6-3, 6-3 and Michelle Yeh of Penn 6-4, 6-2.
In the quarterfinals of the main bracket doubles competition Husain and freshman Jenny Shuler fell 8-2 to But and Baker of Maryland.
In the consolation bracket sophomore Sasha Abraham fell in the quaterfinals to seeded Melissa Anderson 6-2, 6-1 of Harvard. Abraham reached the quaterfinals by defeating Eunice Chao of Columbia 6-1, 6-3 in the first round of the consolations and Felicia Cureauru of Penn 6-1, 6-0 in the second.
Penn State will host the Penn State Invitational this upcoming weekend October 1-3. at the Sarni Tennis Center.
