State College Police are currently looking for two suspects involved in two separate robberies late last week.
A black man and a white woman entered the Uni-Mart, 300 S. Allen St., at about 8 p.m. Thursday. The man claimed to be armed and demanded money from the store clerk, police said.
The manager chased after the woman a short distance down Allen Street and was able to recover all of the money that had been taken from the store, police said.
About an hour later, police responded to a call from the Quinn-Tessential Scrapbook Store, 2131 S. Atherton St., where again a black male and white female had entered the store, demanding money.
The man also indicated he had a gun, but did not display it. After money was taken from the store, both the man and woman fled the scene, police said.
No injuries occurred during either incident.
State College police are not releasing the amount of money stolen from the robbery at the Quinn-Tessential Scrapbook Store.
During the robberies, the Centre County Office of Emergency Communications put into effect a Code Red system, which is designed to alert people and businesses within a designated area of any serious incidents by a phone call.
The call Thursday was designed to go out to local businesses within a designated area close to the robberies, but the message ultimately reached many residences as well.
Recipients of the voice message were given the description of the suspects and told not to apprehend them if they came into contact with the man or woman.
Police are looking for a black man who is about 30 to 40 years old, with a dark complexion.
He is about 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall and was wearing a baseball cap, a light colored T-shirt and long shorts.
Witnesses said the white woman appeared to be in her 30s, is about 5 feet 4 inches tall and about 130 to 150 pounds.
She has shoulder-length dirty blonde hair and was wearing a pink tank top with thin straps and light colored shorts.
Anyone with information on these robberies is encouraged to call the State College Police Department at 814-234-7150 or Crimestoppers at 1-877-99-CRIME.
