Exercise democracy by voting on Nov. 2
Penn State students are bombarded by the same message everyday. Vote! But there's a reason for the constant verbal and visual fracas against you. Maybe it's the narrow division in the polls. Perhaps it's Pennsylvania's position as the second most important swing state in the country. Both Bush and Kerry know that it'll be near impossible to win this election without us. But I think it's simpler than that. We're a campus of what, 44,000 students? In the 2000 election, less than 300 of that 44,000 voted. If you like math, that's 0.68 percent of Penn State's most influential voice. So now maybe you understand why people like me (a College Democrat) broadside you with the "V" word every chance we get. Do something, even if it's as simple as pushing the right button on Nov. 2. Have your say in the government of your country. That's why you're so happy to live in a democracy, isn't it? Why should you feel so strongly about giving the Iraqi people a voice when you don't even exercise yours?
