Letter to the Editor
Kerry clear choice for good environment

I write in support of Kyle Greenwood's letter to the editor. Not only is our nation's structure endangered if Bush is re-elected, but the environment will be subject to more serious damage. Over the past four years, the Bush administration has attempted to, and often succeeded in, reverting environmental progress from the past century. Just this past July, Bush called for the waiver of a ban on ozone damaging pesticide. Lifting the ban would only benefit big business and chemical companies, as the pesticides are known to cause severe health problems when found in food. The EPA under President Bush is currently pushing for legislation to allow more mercury pollution emission from power plants, reversing the Clean Air Act. Mercury emissions pollute bodies of water and taint fish, causing health problems in children who eat them. It seems as if this Environmental Protection Agency is not protecting much. For those who care about the environment, a vote for Kerry is essential. Kerry has a long history of being environmentally friendly, starting back in 1970 with his involvement in starting the first Earth Day in Massachusetts. Today he advocates for U.S. involvement in leading world efforts to lower global warming pollution and reversing ozone depletion. Kerry clearly acts with the safety of the environment and is endorsed by the Sierra Club, the nation's oldest and largest environmental group. The decision is clear, if you are concerned for the future of our environment, Kerry is the man for the job.
