While Michael Stetor is mistaken in which weapons were banned by the Assault Weapons Ban which expired a few days ago (automatic weapons, i.e. machine guns, are banned by a different law which did not expire), nevertheless he neglected to mention one very important person who is also to blame for a proposal to renew the ban not being brought up in Congress. That very important person is John Kerry. It is not the responsibility of the President to hold Congress' hand for every bill to go through the legislature. If the Assault Weapons Ban was so important to candidate Kerry, perhaps he should have taken a break from campaigning and gone back to Washington to do his job.
