Penn State's Big Ten clash at No. 22 Minnesota will be played the night of Oct. 2 in the Humphrey Metrodome. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. CDT/8:00 p.m. EDT and ESPN Plus will televise the game to a regionally syndicated audience.
The telecast is the sixth announced TV appearance of the 2004 season for the Nittany Lions. The Lions have appeared on television in 117 of their last 119 games, including the first two of this season. ESPN Plus will televise Saturday's home contest with the University of Central Florida to a regionally syndicated audience at 12:10 p.m.
In addition, Penn State's Sept. 25 Big Ten opener at No. 20 Wisconsin will kick at 4:45 p.m. CDT/5:45 p.m. EDT and be nationally televised by ESPN. Penn State's Oct. 9 game with nationally ranked Purdue also will air on ESPN. Kickoff is 4:30 p.m. in Beaver Stadium for the sold out clash with the No. 18 Boilermakers.
Penn State leads the series with the Golden Gophers, 4-3, but Minnesota has won the last three meetings, including a 20-14 decision last year.
The Nittany Lions will be playing in Minneapolis for the first time since 2000. Penn State is 2-1 in games played in the Metrodome.
