Loss of life is a heartbreak that I truly began to realize only recently. Now that I've had a small chance to live and explore some of the great complexities of life, I find myself filled with a very genuine awareness of just how precious it is. Coupled with awareness, I have also developed a very terrible fear of death, a fear that I know many people in the world must live with. And when you know this fear, your heart can't help but ache for those that must live in constant fear of death. Or worse, those that have had their fears realized. That is why I mourn for the victims of the September 11th attacks. So on the behalf of the Muslim Student Association, I pray for the souls of those lost on that tragic day. I pray for the families that must live the rest of their lives with the burden of never seeing their loved ones again. And I pray that along with the calamities God gives us to test our faith, may He also endow us with the courage and strength we need to prevail.
