The Daily Collegian is looking for anyone with an interest in politics, social concerns, humor or issues affecting Penn State students who would like to address those issues in the form of columns or editorial cartoons for the Opinion page.
Columnists are responsible for about 800 words on a weekly basis during the Fall semester, and should be ready for a time committment.
Also, columnists should be prepared to do news reporting with actual sources for their writing.
The Collegian is looking for those with an interest in writing as well as the ability to address issues highly relevant to students in an engaging manner.
Applicants should expect to have column topics approved by the Opinion page editor.
Editorial cartoonists take local, national and world issues and portray them in a fresh, intelligent and humorous way.
They should be ready to bring their own ideas to the paper as well as respond to those of the Collegian Board of Opinion.
If you are a Penn State student interested in either of these two positions, pick up an application at the Collegian office, located in the James Building, 123 S. Burrowes St.
Applications will be accepted from now until 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10.
If you have questions, please contact Opinion Editor Caleb Sheaffer by phone at 865-1828 or by e-mail at collegianletters@psu.edu.
