BOSTON - The stage was empty, so Joseph Omini and Frédéric Yonnet decided to hop on board. It was around 3 p. m.
Recent controversy over fliers posted around campus by the Penn State Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) has brought attention to the conservative group's weekly meetings. YAF chairman Pete Roy said the group posted fliers around campus earlier in the summer to attract new potential members to the group's first summer meeting, held on July 15. The fliers, some of which asked "Sick of always being preached to about diversity and multiculturalism?
By the Associated Press CARLISLE, Pa. -- Dickinson School of Law's alumni group opposes plans for the school to operate a second campus at University Park, arguing that the law school should instead maintain a single, upgraded campus at the location in Carlisle.

The Penn State women's basketball team secured its fourth commitment for the class of 2008 yesterday when 6-foot-4 Slovakian forward/center Romana Vynuchalova signed a letter of intent to play for the Lady Lions. Vynuchalova comes to Happy Valley from Bratislava, Slovakia, and the nation's top club team, Istrobanka. Her playing resume includes a spot on the Under-18 Slovakian Junior National Team, on which she earned all-star recognition during this summer's European Championships.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N. J. -- When Syracuse football coach Paul Pasqualoni tries to describe the struggles of playing major college football in the Northeast, he always hears the shrill Brooklyn accent of his old college coach ringing in his ear.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N. J. -- If Penn State is still the undisputed champ of college football in Pennsylvania, then that would make Pittsburgh the dangerous underdog contender, hoping to dethrone the king.

A good mystery always ends with a twist. And that's exactly what audience members can expect during the production of Rehearsal for Murder at 8 p. m.

Hey kids, I'm back! So you know what that means: yes, we need to fill more space in Venues! Let me start by saying that Ted Leo rocked me in every way possible last weekend.
Bloody Wally is really the sum of all its parts; or at least that's what its motto says. "[Our music is] alternative rock with a flexibility that incorporates styles across any genre, pushing boundaries by combining our members' influences," bassist Tim Pollock said. Bloody Wally will play its high-energy music, influenced by bands like The Beatles, Radiohead, Nirvana, R.
Some might say summer in State College is neither tropical nor exotic, but rather muggy and dreary. For those who could use a blast of Caribbean-themed entertainment to spice things up, The Island Boys Steel Pan Calypso Band will take the challenge Tuesday evening at Central Parklet, the third installment of the Downtown Summer Concert Series. "We thought it was a perfect fit for a warm summer evening," said Teresa Sparacino, Downtown State College Improvement District executive director.
With the end of the summer session approaching, it's a good time of year to take a step back and indulge in artwork reminiscent of the relaxed and laid-back season. Currently on display in the HUB-Robeson Galleries is an exhibit titled "Artistic Horizons," highlighting watercolor paintings from students at Artistic Horizon, a non-profit integrated arts center which supports both children and adult artists. The exhibit will run through Aug.
Regional folk artist Paula Purnell will perform Songs and Stories of Southwestern Pennsylvania at 8 p. m. Saturday at Greenwood Furnace State Park, Huntingdon.
It isn't often that a sequel has the privilege of surpassing its predecessor, and it's even more unlikely that it can be done multiple times in one summer movie season. At a time when sequels come fast and furious -- excuse the pun -- and lack basically all the elements that made their originals so much fun, it's nice to see that movies like Spider-Man 2 , which opened a few weeks ago, and The Bourne Supremacy can still come out of Tinseltown. What really surprised me about the production of a sequel to 2002's The Bourne Identity was the fact that it seemed as though, at first, it was not a necessary one.
With apologies to "Boom (What's Happenin')," that new Mase song, "Welcome Back" might just be the rap track of the summer. It is surprisingly well rapped considering it's Mase, with a great beat (not Kanye West, but close and big ups to Mr. Kotter).
I have a new enemy. It goes by the name of The Polyphonic Spree. The Polyphonic Spree is a band of about 40 people who play something approaching psychedelic rock.
One person's trash is another person's treasure. Or so the saying goes. This Saturday from 8:30 a.
