V-6 or V-10, muscle or street, classic or 2004, four wheels or two, Harley or Honda, welcome to Iron Thunder and Motorhead Madness.
On July 10, "motorheads" from across the state will make their way to #1 Cycle Center Harley-Davidson, 107 Yearicks Blvd., in Centre Hall for the Motorhead Madness event and the Iron Thunder in Happy Valley Fourth annual car and motorcycle show.
Motorhead Madness takes place the second Saturday of every month at 4 p.m. This month the event coincides with Iron Thunder.
"Motorhead Madness is just something we decided to do. The store is not open so the event is community driven," #1 Cycle Center Harley-Davidson event coordinator Erica Underhill said.
"There is free food, always some kind of DJ, music for a couple hours and kids from StreetWorks sell 50/50 raffle tickets and soda to raise money," she said.
StreetWorks is an organization founded to help disadvantaged children.
"Kids volunteer by cleaning at the park or helping at a retirement home and are rewarded with a trip to an amusement park or movie," Underhill said. "The program shows them when they do positive things, they will receive positive rewards."
Motorhead Madness began in April and will run through September. During the last event, $900 was raised for StreetWorks. The goal for the summer is $9,000.
It has featured flame-throwing cars, helicopter rides, gladiator events and hot air balloon rides. This Saturday's theme is paintball.
"Motorhead Madness is basically a kind of thank you to the customer, to give them a place to hang out, have a little bit of motor-head fun, see some nice looking cars and bikes, listen to some kind of music. It's basically just something to do for a Saturday night," service manager Fred Yearick Jr. said.
Beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday, cars and bikes from across state will make their way to Iron Thunder.
"It's kind of neat, 4,000 to 5,000 people actually show up, whether entered or not, or drive motorcycles or cars ... throughout the day there will be a DJ, and a motorcycle stunt group," Carey Lovelace, an administrative assistant at the Center said. "It's like a beach party without the beach."
Throughout the day, those in attendance will have a chance to judge various competitions.
"It's a big car and motorcycle show that lets people who take a serious interest in either a fixed-up or a custom car or motorcycle come out and show it off," Lovelace said. "The difference in our show is it's the people's choice, no judges. We actually let the people choose which car is best."
The show will feature old cars and new cars and numerous types of motorcycles.
"There will be stock old, antique type stuff versus hot rods and a couple Fast and Furious cars," Yearick said. "The show is open to every type of bike, not just Harleys. We do get groups of crotch rockets come in. We're all just riding."
