Letter to the Editor
Students in danger with national draft

With the presidential election drawing near, I would ask that the Collegian inform the students about the bills in Congress concerning the reinstating of the national military draft. Let me first say that I am proud of our men overseas, and give my full support to them for fighting for our nation.

However, I think this war on terrorism was unjust, and I blame the elected officials for it. I think that the American people are having the wool pulled over their eyes right now. Congress is trying to pass the draft law without informing the American public or those who would be involved, namely 18- to 26-year-old men and women. If I understand this bill correctly, no one is going to be spared, not even college students. Everyone needs to look into this heinous act that could unfold by June of next year.
