Prince, I miss u. Why don't u call?
When u came 2 town a couple of weeks ago, u were great. So open, so understanding. I thought we had a good time. U stayed the whole night and when u left, u didn't make me feel used at all. But when u stuck me with your new CD, Musicology, as the only reminder of when u were mine, well, I almost wish u could've just left things as they were.
Musicology is OK. It's the best thing u have done 4 a long time, and I am glad u decided 2 give it 2 me 4 free. U seem 2 b realizing more and more that u are ultimately a funk artist and not Santana or whoever u have been trying (in vain) 2 imitate since Diamonds and Pearls. But u were so good the other night. Was this really what u were setting us up 4?
I like that song "Musicology," and I think the video with u is cool. And "Life O' The Party" is good.
Although I think u should maybe stop making all these references 2 other musicians, because u are good enough urself. "Call My Name" is a good slow jam, but u really just seem 2 b repeating urself.
If u had played a show like u did and then handed us the next Purple Rain, u would b the biggest artist on the planet again. But u gave us a CD that I don't think I would pay 4 if I'd had 2, even though I can't stop listening 2 u since the concert. U really impressed everybody, but u didn't make a lasting impression when u gave us just an OK CD as a consolation prize.
Look, Prince. I know how good u can b, and u do 2. But next time u come visit, try 2 bring a better gift. Thank u.
