I have a clever analogy for Scott Morris ("Americans should think about situation in Iraq," April 21). Let's say that Country A kills many of its citizens for no reason other than the race or birthplace of said citizens. Let's say that Country A also poses a military threat to other countries. And let's not forget that the leader of Country A allows the rape and torture of citizens by government officials. So now, Country B decides that enough is enough, and steps in and defeats Country A.
Then Country B realizes that the leader of Country A still has many people in the nation who support the ideals of the former leader of Country A. So, Country B's military remains in Country A until it can be rebuilt into a safer place to live. Now according to Morris, Country B really needs to rethink what it is doing, because obviously Country B is acting naughty. I guess then that means that the United States should never have gotten involved in Iraq. Who cares about the military threats, the genocide, or the rape and torture cells.
I guess since there are still loyalists to the old regime willing to attack the militaries that ousted their regime, we should run away.
I guess we also shouldn't have gotten involved in World War II either, right Morris?
