Arts center coordinator Stephanie Gush said every semester, there is a craft sale featuring artwork by the center's students and instructors. The sale includes ceramics, jewelry, fused glass, handbags, sculpture and prints.
Students take classes at the craft center year round.
"Mainly students attend the non-credit adult art classes during the school year, but anybody from the community can enroll in the classes," Gush said.
The center offers many different classes, encompassing anything from a beginner's stained-glass class to a Middle Eastern belly-dancing class.
Most classes are taught by Penn State students or graduates, although some artists from the community also instruct.
Livio Ramondelli (senior-art) has been an instructor at the center for five years and has taught drawing classes to a wide range of people during his time at the Center for Arts and Crafts. "I teach the cartooning and illustration class and the drawing studio class to people of all ages," Ramondelli said. "I have taught from age 11 to 60."
Ramondelli's work will be on display at the craft sale.
"I have two acrylic paintings and two pencil drawings in the show," Ramondelli said. "If people are interested in buying any piece in the sale, they should consult the artist."
Along with the classes and the sale the center organizes every semester, it also coordinates art activities on weekend nights at the HUB-Robeson Center.
"Students can work on different creative crafts while they're at LateNight at the HUB, including painting, decorating, jewelry making, ceramics and seasonal crafts," Gush said.
Kelsic Grimm (sophomore-psychology) said she occasionally enjoys participating in these activities at the HUB.
"Relaxing with your friends and making arts and crafts is a nice change of pace from other weekend activities," Grimm said.
The student-based sale should feature many pieces by talented artists, Gush said.
"I hope there is some cool jewelry at the sale because I need to buy my mom something nice for Mother's Day," Grimm said.
