Students show real passion in BJC issue
Wow! I love the energy in the responses regarding how concert promoters feel about our market. While the building does not fancy being bashed in front of the entire student body with half-facts in an editorial page ("BJC controversy, long brewing, has students near boiling point," April 16) from a passionate fan of indie music, I still respect what the point of the message is, and only wish there was an objective forum for this discussion. Booking events in a mid-sized venue in a tertiary market is a very difficult process. I am happy that we are probably one of the only venues out there that is this straightforward and honest about the concert business. The Bryce Jordan Center will continue to be a learning incubator for those interested in the concert industry (HRIM and RPM 497B), and I encourage students interested in learning how a facility adapts to this environment to register for the course. (Penn State is one of three universities in North America that teaches a real world facility management course.) Thanks for the feedback and, more importantly, the passion. We wanted a response from the students, and we surely received it. Your replies have been passed on to the promoters who thought that Penn State students were too apathetic. Kudos for proving them wrong. Bernie Punt
