The Penn State men's outdoor track team is hoping for continued success today at the Nittany Lion Relays for the final home meet of the Spring Semester.
The Lions are coming off a win in the K.T. Woodman Classic hosted by Wichita State last weekend. The Lions scored 201 points and were followed by Nebraska with 131 and Air Force with 129.
Chavous Nichols, the Penn State record holder in the triple jump with a distance 53-0 3/4, won the event last weekend with a jump of 50-8 1/4. He also won the long jump (25-0 3/4).
Matt Moyer won the javelin with a throw of 218-10, Dane Miller took first in the shot put (53-8 1/4), Chris Foster won the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:27.44) and Josh Loren won the 5,000 meters (15:17.68).
Ernie Terrell won the 200 meters with a time of 21.33.
The weather, like during the Lions last home meet, is looking to cooperate as temperatures are expected in the upper 60s.
Penn State men's track and field coach Harry Groves has been stressing the importance of learning to practice outside and to find good times in which all of the players are able to come to practice.
"We'll decide what the weather is, and that's how we'll practice," he said.
