Q & A
Answered by UHS

Question:

Between the spring and summer semesters, I am going to have knee surgery. I think I will need extra therapy when I come back at the end of June for the second summer session. Can I get physical therapy at the student health center this summer?

Answer:

Yes, you can. University Health Services provides physical therapy to students who are registered for the current semester. Just call 865-7381 to get an appointment for an initial evaluation. You will need a written order from your physician, so be sure to bring that with you. Our staff includes three licensed physical therapists and a physical therapy assistant.

Individualized treatment plans may include therapeutic exercise, manual therapy (massage and joint mobilization), ultrasound, electrical stimulation, traction, whirlpool and paraffin bath. You are responsible for the charges, and the fee depends on the type of therapy you receive. We advise you to check with your insurance provider ahead of time to find out what your coverage will be.
