Despite review, Usher's crown 'prince' of R&B
I'd like to voice my opinion on Paul Thompson's review of Usher's new CD, Confessions ("Yeah! Or no?," April 2). I don't know how he can say that the CD only has three good songs. And to even suggest that his CD even resembles R. Kelly's Chocolate Factory is "Ludacris" in its own right. I own both CDs by choice, and not because I have to listen to them. R.Kelly and Usher are about as two diverse singers you will find in the R&B genre. I don't think Thompson really has much of a clue when it comes to reviewing CDs in the hip-hop and R & B realm. I own all of Usher's CDs -- all four -- and I'm sure Thompson thinks Usher started with his breakthrough, "My Way." In reality, Usher's first CD came at 14 years of age through Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, with the single "Think of You" and is certified gold. To trash this CD is just ignorance. We've seen it before with his review of Jay-Z's Black Album, and I'm not even a Jay-Z fan. I'm sure plenty of people agree with me -- 1.1 million people seemed to last week. Sorry, Thompson, but I think Usher was right when he said his next album was going to save R&B. If R. Kelly is the "King of R&B," I think Usher was just made the heir to the throne. Make way for R&B's new "Prince." Chris Hartman
