Straights don't want education from gays
On Thursday's opinion page, the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender community and its allies (LGBTA) wonders why so many members of the Interfraternity Council don't want involvement with them ("IFC has to exhibit cooperation, enthusiasm with 'straight talks,' " March 25). Here's a simple, straight answer. First, who wants to be "educated" by people who can't even understand the most basic biological principle of human reproduction? Secondly, many fraternity men hold themselves to different morals and ideals than the ones your organization promotes. Third, we don't like your lifestyle being forced on us. If you want to be homosexual, that's your preference. Don't push it off on others who don't want to hear about it or be associated with it for one reason or another. Live and let live. If you expect tolerance from others, then start practicing it yourselves. If you want equality, strive for equality, not preferential treatment. Now, how about a straight pride week at Penn State?
