The Patton Township Police Department said yesterday the attempted theft of an ATM from Target, 315 Lowes Blvd., did not actually occur.

On Tuesday, police said that three men entered the store at about 11 a.m., attempted to remove a free-standing ATM and fled the store when they realized they were unable to lift the machine.

Yesterday, however, police said this information was false. The three men were in the store to place a bid for services to Target, according to a police press release. The men were not attempting to remove the ATM and there appeared to be no criminal intent to their activity, the release said.
