PSU student wins spot in graduate program

Danielle Perry (senior-physics) has earned the opportunity to participate in the National Institutes of Health-University of Cambridge Graduate Partnerships Program, a five-year initiative to enhance graduate study and research.

Perry, who will begin her studies in brain imaging in August, is the first Penn State student to win a spot in the program. "It's an incredible experience," she said. "I will be collaborating with people from Cambridge, England, the National Institute of Health and the Brain Dynamics Centre in Sydney, Australia."

At Penn State, Perry is a member of the Schreyer Honors College and works on research funded by the National Science Foundation in the laboratory of Christine Keating, assistant professor of chemistry. She is also an officer in the Society of Physics Students and the Association for Women in Mathematics, and a volunteer for the International Hospitality Council.

Perry said the program in Cambridge will give her a head start in her research and studies. She is also looking forward to the multitude of opportunities she will be granted.

"They give you the world," she said.
