NEWS

The Undergraduate Student Government (USG) 2004 Elections Commission filed two complaints Monday against executive candidates Sandip Trivedi and Monica Constantino for violating campaign financing rules.

This year's presidential race is said to be the most expensive one thus far, with President Bush and Democratic nominee-to-be John Kerry on their way to spending nearly a half-billion dollars total for their campaigns.

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- This was the first test.

With the April 27 Pennsylvania primary quickly approaching, Penn State students are running out of time to register to vote. The deadline for registering to vote or change party affiliation for the primary is March 29.

The Centre Area Transportation Authority (CATA) has decided to pursue purchasing several articulated buses, similar to the accordion-like one that was tested in January, for use around town and on campus.

The American Association of University Professors (AAUP) released a report saying faculty background checks are an unnecessary invasion of privacy.

Last night, students, faculty and community members gathered at the Eisenhower Chapel to engage in "A Discussion About the Death Penalty."

The usual crowd that gathers in front of Canyon Pizza, 260 E. Beaver Ave., on a weekend night is not likely to describe the town's law enforcement as "State College's finest." The line of hungry and soon-to-be hung-over partygoers often welcomes an officer with comments and sounds fitting of a barnyard.

The Undergraduate Student Government (USG) Senate voted against approving Travis Miller (sophomore-mechanical engineering) as associate justice of the USG Supreme Court at last night's meeting.

Students listened to a panel discuss current issues affecting women, such as sexism in the workplace, cultural norms and violence, last night in the HUB-Robeson center.

A collision at the intersection of East Prospect Avenue and South Garner Street on Monday caused one car to roll over and its driver to be transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center.

SPORTS

The Penn State women's track team doesn't have the time to bask in the glory of its newly forged Big Ten championship, but that's fine by them.

In between bouts one, won't necessarily find Penn State epee fencer Katarzyna Trzopek smiling, win or lose.

When Penn State's all-time hits leader Gina Bianchini graduated last year, the softball team was left in an unfamiliar situation. The team lost its leadoff hitter from four of the previous five seasons and left the Lions wondering what kind of production to expect from the top of their lineup.

Everyone knows that the weather in State College isn't exactly warm, but perhaps no one bears the brunt of Happy Valley winters more so than the Penn State men's golf team.

Penn State President Graham Spanier said yesterday that he is partially supportive of a college football playoff system, but the underlying message to proponents of the idea was the same.

Penn State's Jared Hopewell stepped onto the mound in the third inning to relieve Alan Stidfole yesterday at Depew field in Lewisburg, home of Bucknell, and this is what confronted him: No outs, bases full, the NittanyLions already down 3-2 and the game teetering on the brink. No problem.

BLACKSBURG, Va. - She says it only because one of her teammates keeps stealing her seat, but junior point guard Jess Strom hasn't sat by the rest of the Lady Lions for post-game interviews.

Penn State's senior libero Ricky Mattei has always been a team player, never worrying about individual statistics or honors.

Not many have ever accused men's basketball coach John Chaney for looking pretty, but the man wins at Temple.

To say that the little thing we call Roustabout! leaves an impression on its fans every week will soon be more than just a silly cliché.
