Parking enforcement frustrates PSU student
Every Sunday, I attend church at 9 p.m. on campus. Well, this Sunday I happened to get there a little late and had to "make my own parking space." There were several other car owners making their own as well, since it is hardly spring outside. We were all within the lot and there was a clear path for all cars to maneuver around in the event of an emergency. Who are we really hurting parking in a campus lot at 9 p.m., on a Sunday, for an hour? Needless to say, I and about 10 other car owners came out of mass to enjoy a $15 ticket. I'd like to thank the officer who went out of his or her way in the bitter cold to print all of those little sheets of paper and tuck them nicely into the little envelopes. But, next time Penn State decides to call me for a donation, take it out of the extra $10 you charge the police. I understand that I wasn't parked within a marked space, but the amount of tickets given on this campus is ridiculous. Not to mention the more productive things that could be done with that time, like go to church, or, if you aren't religious, help an old lady cross the street. Do anything constructive, because who are you helping by giving out so many tickets? Ironically, on other campuses, people call the campus police, "campus safety." I'd imagine that is because they're intended to keep the campus safe. Whether our campus is safe or not, I don't know. But don't worry, Penn Staters. In the case of a parking emergency, we are all set. Jennifer Rush
