[ Tuesday, March 23, 2004 ] Letter to the Editor
Some students' naive beliefs shock reader
I've read many letters to the editor in the past two years here at Penn State. But the one I read by Michael Ekworomadu truly captivated me ("Gays should prepare to meet Satan upon death," March 17). I had no choice but to write in with a response. The other day I read his letter about how gays and lesbians are going to hell. I am shocked at the naivete of some Penn State students. Truly shocked. I think there should be a part of the application process where, somehow, these ridiculously close-minded, hateful, discriminating people could be discarded from the acceptance pile. Maybe then the rest of us here wouldn't have to suffer from the idiocy of these few arrogant imbeciles. Hell is a pretty harsh punishment for someone who simply has a different sexual preference than a heterosexual. Who cares? It's 2004 and things have changed. So, to Ekworomadu, all I have to say is, maybe you should take a step out of your blinded little world and realize that gays and lesbians should be the least of your worries, and maybe you should focus more on getting a clue. If anyone's going to hell, Satan will be the deciding factor, not you. Jessa Holland
