ST. LOUIS -- One of the defining elements of the NCAA wrestling tournament is its finality. Reach the finals or win a national championship and the accomplishment is immortalized for posterity. The Penn State Lady Icers have just begun playing their best hockey of the season. However, the season is now over. Sophomore men's volleyball player Matt Proper took the training wheels off his game against No. 8 Ball State on Saturday, but perhaps he should've left them on in the parking lot. The Penn State Ruggers got a 52-5 win on Saturday and all their coach could say was that they played "OK." Once again the No. 67 Penn State men's tennis team experienced how aggressive play can lead to success. However, for the second straight match, the Lions' efforts came up short. The Penn State women's gymnastics team posted its highest score of the season at the Big Ten championships on Saturday. The Nittany Lions' 196.625 placed them second at the meet hosted by Minnesota. Princeton's Theresa Sherry has been in this position before. While the rain was pouring on the ceiling of Holuba Hall on Saturday, the Penn State men's club lacrosse team was pouring goals on opponents Bloomsburg and Shippensburg. The Penn State men's lacrosse team tallied two less shots, barely trailed No. 12 Denver in the faceoff and shot departments and broke even in clears and turnovers. The No. 11 Penn State men's volleyball had a lot to deal with this weekend. There was the 16-day layoff after a bad loss to Ohio State, a bicycle mishap, a lingering ankle injury and car accident for the star offensive player, and, oh yeah, two matches, including one with the No. 8 team in the land. A season that started with Penn State's women's swimming and diving team being crushed by defending national champion Auburn ended this weekend in much the same way. Only this time, the Lions have some company. For a squad that has yet to play a game at home, the Penn State baseball team found the state of Virginia to be especially hospitable. The Nittany Lions split a season-opening series with Virginia and returned to the Old Dominion State to face Richmond following five straight losses. Sandwiched in the middle of disappointing stretches in Penn State's 13-7 loss to No.1 Princeton on Saturday was a period where the No. 18 Nittany Lions looked capable of earning an invitation to the NCAA championships. ST. LOUIS -- Nobody ever said Josh Moore was the perfect wrestler. He has his flaws and, from time to time, they have been exposed. But one area in which Moore has never let himself down is mat intensity. No matter the situation, Moore would put it all on the line, punish his opponent and not hold anything back. ST LOUIS -- It appeared to be inevitable, not just from the beginning of this tournament, but throughout the whole season. Pat Cummins and Tommy Rowlands were going to meet for the NCAA heavyweight championship, no matter what. With the lead after three rotations, it seemed like the No. 4 Penn State men's gymnastics team was on its way to defending its Big Ten crown. However, on the next rotation, the Nittany Lions headed to the high bar and that's when the momentum shifted. BLACKSBURG, Va. -- One could point to any number of moments that could signify when the Lady Lions' game with Hampton University was over yesterday. Many singer-songwriters strive to create their own unique sound. Few, however, take it a step further and create a term to describe the experience of that sound. From Sergei Eisenstein's silent Bolshevik-friendly classic Battleship Potemkin to Michael Moore's recent Bowling for Columbine, political films have consistently divided audiences, infuriating the opposition and motivating the base.
