[ Monday, March 22, 2004 ] Letter to the Editor
Not all Christians hate homosexuals personally
I am writing in response to David Fernandez's letter ("Immature arguments belong in preschool," March 18). I will come right out front and say this: I am a Christian. For many readers after this point, whatever I say will be seen as immature, narrow-minded or even prejudiced. I believe the Bible is clear on homosexuality. From my interpretation, homosexuality is sin, not genetic. Just because I believe this does not mean I hate gay people. I think their lifestyle is wrong, but I definitely do not hate them one bit. I am also not the only Christian like this. Most hold the same opinion as me. So, before people like Fernandez start calling us immature, maybe they should look at things from a different viewpoint. I never said you have to agree with my opinion, but at least be open enough to let Christians have an opinion without being insulted and reduced to a preschooler. I offer you this courtesy, so why can't you? Philip Chapin
