With just over a month remaining until the EIVA tournament, the Penn State men's volleyball team is still trying to find out how good it really is. If you've caught any members of the Penn State men's lacrosse teams cutting in line at the bathroom this week don't fret, there's nothing wrong with them. Except perhaps their manners. When the No. 18 Penn State women's lacrosse team blew a five-goal lead and lost 12-11 in overtime last weekend to William & Mary, there were several things coach Suzanne Isidor could have done. Their rink, their fans, their officials. After its worst loss of the season, the No. 67 Penn State men's tennis team (6-2, 0-1 Big Ten) will look to rebound against No. 56 Virginia Tech (7-8) in Blacksburg, Va. Last week, it was the blazing sun of the Bahamas. Roads through which championships, especially repeat titles, are won are filled with detours, rough spots and uneasy passageways. A three seed that thinks it should have been a two seed. A two seed that thinks it was wrongly demoted from a one seed, and a one seed that many think would have been better as a two in another region -- you can find in the East Regional. During the 17 weeks of the women's basketball season, there have been four different teams ranked No. 1. Currently, there are no teams in the top five in the nation that have less than three losses. And three of those teams will enter the NCAA tournament coming off of a defeat in its conference's championship tournament. My Opinion: Kaitlyn Andrews-Rice Letters to the editor
For better or for worse, boys will always be boys, and Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson will always be Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson. When they're on, they're two of the funniest men in show business, but when they're off, it hurts, and everyone feels it. In their latest joint venture, Starsky & Hutch, they're right in between, forsaking their occasional highbrow comedy for their box-office banking situational humor. Dear emo, Frank T. Hopkins was an amazing historical figure. In addition to starring in Buffalo Bill's Wild West show, he palled around with no less than Teddy Roosevelt and Billy the Kid. Perhaps most remarkably, Hopkins rode his American mustang, Hidalgo, to victory against the world's finest Arabian horses in the prestigious 3,000-mile Ocean of Fire race. Nobody else saves a lame movie like Johnny Depp. I can describe Deerhoof to you, although I'm not sure how much good it would do. I mean, "American-Japanese, la-la grating, super-catchy metal, noise-burst Yoko Ono-y, Sonic Youth-y, insane indie-pop" isn't exactly helpful. Deerhoof makes rock music. In print, the specifics only serve to confuse. There's no better way to bring a community together than with food, fun and music, especially when a good cause is involved.
